Entries this day: Josh_and_Natty_Nat_Nat Lessons Operation_F.R.E.D. Shibuya china nin_the_spiral_unboxing southpark Josh and Natty Nat Nat 4:41pm JST Wednesday 2 May 2007 (day 13552) Slept beautifully wrapped until lazy 11:30am. Nature called and as we three were enjoying chattering and chowing fruit and nabe, Yurika called after I had left a message. Showed Natalie how to let my computer soak up her internet access via airport cards, and I augmented my profile on facebook.com with deets and a picture of Nick and I hanging out on the balcony in Kenya. Headed to Harajuku and to Meijingu (I thought it was Meiji Jingu, but I'm sure the guy was announcing Meijingu) where there happened to be a performance in the center of the place. I took about a 5 minute vid. At Shibuya station now; gotta go! (last night was crazy fun) permalinkLessons 8:08pm JST Wednesday 2 May 2007 (day 13552) Second lesson was nice today; Aya was chatty and funny. She's a programmer as well, and praised Flash 9 and AS 3 with Flex. Third lesson was cancelled. I like to arm wrestle her, but not today. Tomomi was next, with a few emails to check and then I told her the continuing story of ¤æ¤ê¤«, which Tomomi enjoyed thinking of being in that first stage of a relationship. Current student is no-show, but is 10 minutes late for a 20 minute level check. Next is Chiemi, who has not much to say each lesson, and uses "much" way too much. Then Masahiro, who likes my marble track, though I haven't gotten it out today, given that the president (who received a 2 page email about the horrible lesson a student had with me; I was too proud of my marble track, and when I sat in a sloppy laid back manner and read her textbook upside down instead of getting my own copy out, and when I heard her difficult story and tried to bless her with a hand to hand contact, she claimed was scary and sexual harassment) is here instead of Reiko. If Masahiro specifically asks about it, I'll get it down. 10:09pm JST He didn't ask about it. After our lesson (listed as "9:00 - 10:00 = 40 (minutes)" (10pm was wrong)), I was hungry. permalinkOperation F.R.E.D. 1:18 AM me: busy?1:19 AM Veronica: hi! ho w r u

Shibuya 10:13pm JST Wednesday 2 May 2007 (day 13552) I got a pizza cone and enjoyed watching people in Shibuya. One woman enjoyed watching me enough to take a picture, though she didn't comment even though she took a couple of pics, and I made eye-lens contact for one of them. permalinkchina 10:16pm JST Wednesday 2 May 2007 (day 13552) The idea of going to China is crossing my mind a bit. After the supa-funness with Chinese girls last night (one from Mongolia, actually), Natty pointed out how she (Natty) can't really relax with her Japanese coworkers, even though she's known them for years and worked with them on some amazing projects... there's still some invisible barrier keeping Japanese from opening up. But with the girls from China, there was no such barrier. Now, I'm sure that if I go to China (I should do a bit of pre-preparation first), it will be another hella culture shock; possibly even bigger than coming to Japan because I imagine having gotten used to quietly shy Japanese will make loud unruly Chinese seem like heathens. (( this is all wild guesswork at this point; I have little basis for these claims )) And part of me really wants to be "where it's at" with the revolution that's going to take the world. China seems sure to overtake the US in power, if not militarily, then businessily, (which are arguably the same thing). And part of me wants to be noticed, to be unique: "China now is like Japan was 20 years ago, some people have never seen a foreigner before, and the girls are crazy for foreigners" Hmmmm; this last part is interesting. But is it the right reason to run off to China? Where am I going? From what am I running? To what am I headed??? Plus, I've just gotten Yurika in the picture, and have asked Natsuki out for dinner. Eeeks; what am I doing? permalinknin the spiral unboxing 3:14am JST Thursday 3 May 2007 (day 13553) unboxing my nin the spiral membership kit: permalinksouthpark 12:52pm JST Thursday 3 May 2007 (day 13553) HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA Michael and I watched three episodes from Southpark season 9 last night (until 5am) I loved the scene where Cartman freezes at a critical moment in the hippy eviction plan.
