747 returning to earth with a space shuttle on its back, and there was a problem, forcing it to lose altitude dramatically as it should have been flying over a valley. It dropped right down to nearly skimming the marshy river in the valley, and then the right wing slightly touched the water, the plane stayed stable for a bit, and then nose dove into the river and flipped upside down, tearing the nose of the plane off (as it stayed upright) while the body of the plane flipped over onto the shuttle on its back.

I was shocked to see the footage, and wondered how it possibly could be possible that I hadn't seen it before. Thought it must be some government cover-up

Meditation

I just sat in a meditative type manner for about 28 minutes. My goal was at least 5 minutes. My goal is at least 5 minutes in the morning for 10 of the next 14 days.

I practiced Anapana for some minutes, Vipassana for some minutes (2 circuits around the body), fell toward dreaming a couple times near the end, continually had to keep bringing my busy brain off the topic of women.

At one point, I seemed to be able to see light, even though my eyes were closed. I realized it was my eyes seeing light through my eyelids.

Nice. I've set up an emacs macro that allows me to give it the name (URL) of an image thumbnail, and have it expand that name into the code necessary to post that image in my journal as a link to its full sized version.

I think that will mean I'll be putting a lot more images inline than previously.

Around 15 months ago (while on PB 52nd voyage (today I just happened across the code that I posted on 26 January 2006 or so)) I made a program that I run locally to convert iPhoto's crummy HTML output to my preferred output (using human-readable filenames). That program/system isn't perfecto because I still have to figure out a path for making the photos available in the navigation at the top of my pages. AND, I haven't been maintaining the backend to make that possible, so perhaps I'll just drop that part, or be more lax in the path creation scheme..

Anyway, that helped, so I can have nicely named photos in a nicely formatted album. I've got a bit of code that puts watermarks on the images using imageMagick on my site. Now I can put the albums online and get code to link them inline as well.

Stupid computer

Argh. Something is wrong with my computer. It drained its battery today while it was closed (and should have been sleeping) in my bag. 12% battery now; going to shut it off until I can charge it.

Just talked to Ami for an hour on video phone. Just like high school.

According to the rule we used in college for calculating lowest acceptable ages for dating, she is 68.25 days older than the lowest age I can date.
