Cafe Mundi

Chowed at Cafe Mundi with Ami, Fred, Bill, Colleen, and Ma came a bit before our food arrived. Colleen traded her sandwich for Fred's waffle and eggs cause she's a spicy wuss. Ami and I had sandwiches as well, though, as a spicy wuss myself, I just got the Easy Cheesey sandwich.

Conversation was varied between RSS feeds, the four kingdoms of life on earth, and Finding Nemo (and the family of Jacques the lobster)

Ami was pretty quiet the whole time, but Ma asked her some questions about her family, etc. I translated a bit of the Japanese we used.

When we got pictures taken, Colleen was out of the pic at first and I was like, 「オッパイ見せて」

Operation j.a.n.e.t.t.e. is complete! At uncommonOBJECTS we walked through and I walked up as she was hugging Colleen after hugging Fred. I couldn't bear to wait much longer than that. She saw Ami and was like, "are you Ami?" and later asked some stuff in Japanese.

英語は話せますか？

and

テキサスは好きですか？

Ami said janette's accent is better than mine. あれ？

Really great to catch up with janette. She seems really happy and smiley and great great great. She loves her job, loves living in Austin; loves having her friend Reenie over, and JoJoBean.

Fred says:

and

Type me some Japanese, yo,

to which I reply:

これは日本語です、よ。

We're going to hang out with janette at her crib tonight.

Texas museum

Ami enjoyed the Texas Museum. Actually we didn't go into the museum proper, but we were in the rather large entrance and the gift shop, where she bought a couple of gifts, and Fred enlivened a stuffed elephant puppet.

Outside, after the movie, I climbed and jumped around on the benches near the big star in front of the place. I was able to jump from bench to bench on the outside of a lamp:

The = and ! are benches, and the * is the lamp post (top view). The / are my jumping path, from bottom left to top center. I made it the first time by "catching" the lamp, but then the second time after almost giving up the attempt, I thought, what if I flat had to do this? and I did it relatively easily.

Watched Harry Potter

Just watched Harry Potter 5(?) on I-MAX. It was aight, but not hella good. The cat lady was hella wack.

Watched Nary but water

The bats came out super late this evening. It was my first time out to see them, so it was a bit of a bat letdown.

janette quilting tutorial

Great to see janette so happy at her house. We got a brief tour of the house (we = Ami, Colleen, Fred, Ma, me), and then sat in the living room to chill a bit as janette showed me how to repair the seams in the quilt she made for me. I worked on a couple of them, but couldn't quite finish the second one.. I was stuck balancing between doing it well and quickly, plus learning how, not bugging janette, and getting out early as Colleen was getting tired.

Finally I was like, "will you just zip this last little bit please?"

And she was happy to do it.

I really loved getting to see janette again. I'm a little jealous over her boyfriend, but that's how things go.
