Entries this day: First_day_of_work Lawson's free_Japanese_lessons hahaha_Ami's_short_shorts First day of work 2:22pm JST Monday 3 September 2007 (day 13676) Arrived at 10:50am for an 11am meeting which started at 11:10am and lasted til 12:30pm. Featuring Murakami, Nakatani, and Nakagawa, with Yumiko, Yuji, Shinobu, and me on the listening. I understood about 2%. I wrote the few words that I could catch, the meaning of which I didn't know. This will help my Japanese, jack. Then we went to look at apartments in search of a new place to work, and then lunch. Now we're back at the office, and I don't yet have a work computer, so I'm writing this entry on my own. I can probably bust out of here at any time, but I don't yet have official confirmation of my schedule, and I don't really have anything else to do. 2:59pm JST Had a meeting with my boss, and will be able to start *next* week, which is good for my free time, but not as good for my wallet. However, I will get paid well sooner than I expected. On the 25th of each month, they pay through the 20th of that month. Nice. So I'll get paid 1/3rd month worth on the 25th. permalinkLawson's 5:41pm JST Monday 3 September 2007 (day 13676) At Lawson's I saw Akami and Tsunashimsan for the first time in about 6 weeks. They were good and genki, though Akami no longer sports red hair! I considered changing her name, but couldn't really bear to change it. I helped them stock new products and shuffle some old products off the shelves to make way for new items. We joked about me getting a job there. Even though at first she was like, "great! send me your resume!" the manager said it would be impossible to let me work for just a week. I was like, "not a week, just four days!" I asked them how to redeem my hard earned (100 yen per) points, but the system they have doesn't allow me to just buy an 84 yen item for 84 points. I have to redeem for a coupon of either 150, 300, or 500 points, and then get no change back for the difference. Bah. So Tsunashima-san was like, "here; I'll give you 84 yen until you get paid." Awright. permalinkfree Japanese lessons 5:49pm JST Monday 3 September 2007 (day 13676) Cool. At Lawson's I was talking to a couple of Elders who came in and they said as part of their missionary work, they do community service: teaching language classes for free. It seems, therefore, that I can go to free Japanese lessons once a week (Tuesday nights). And Ami can go to free English lessons, but I don't know when. Presumably more English lessons are available because there is likely more demand. permalinkhahaha Ami's short shorts 7:11pm JST Monday 3 September 2007 (day 13676) Ami made dinner while I took a shower. When I went upstairs to get my shorts, I saw her shorts first and thought, "hmmmmmmmm" They "fit" and I put my shorts on over them, mostly so no one else will see, and secondarily so she'll be supa laughingly shocked later. permalinkprev day next day |
