I think I'm at 33000 word in my novel. Got a bit to go, but I'll be able to make 50000 by the end of the month for sure. Trying to do it before end of Dec 30 so I can make the 30 day limit like NaNoWriMo.

Rice cooker

Cooked rice this morning .. well set the timer last night to cook for me this morning; nice little system, that. Then set the timer again so I'll have rice when I get home tonight. the rice is not white rice, but goma, which is a bit husky. or dark or something.

Work

Good stuff at work today. Got some done on my new website (my new website) and some progress on work website (adding "medal" "medals" for bloggers to display on their sites using the code I posted on my wiki yesterday.

Um, also chatted with Colleen for a bit; great to hear that she got a 3.67 GPA on her core classes! I'm sure that's higher than what I got on mine, and definitely higher than my score overall.

She'll be zipping off to Portugal in a few weeks, and Francois is considering a visit.

Lesson with Yurika tonight; we had one last week and normally wouldn't have another until another week, but I'm goin g to Kagoshima next week so I can't meet her on our normal day)

I love teaching her because she does such great homework and as excellent questions.

free hugs

Free Hugs tonight, for the first time in a long time (like a few weeks or a month). I was a bit surprised to find Tetsuya there (in a santa outfit) and a posse of elves (not in outfits) and a reindeer outfitted guy. I joined them and it was all fun for a bit, but they seemed more focused on soliciting hugs and seeking people wose birthday was within the previous or next six months so they could sing and they were loud etc, so I just left. I prefer to be the lone hugger (as if it was my idea and as if I made the sign (it wasn't, and I didn't)).

During their songs, I tried to carefully keep focused on the standing wave of passing people so I could give hugs as needed, and I was happy to find some people who needed hugs and not singing. I dunno if needed is the right word, but they hugged me and none of the rest, and left without a song.

Anyway.. interesting that I was thinking "get off my lawn" even though Tetsuya was there first (in terms of first with a sign (giving me the idea and a sign) and the first tonight) so I have no rights, plus it's public space.
