Entries this day: Austin_peeps Cool_feelings Novel Zzzz Austin peeps 9:53am JST Friday 21 December 2007 (day 13785) Saw some people with a map, looking a bit lost. I think they were a nuclear family: mom, dad, grown son. They were looking for Oriental Bazaar, of which I had never heard, but they had a map so I got them oriented. Turns out the mom used to live here and would walk from Roppongi to OB (we go way back, me an' OB), so once she knew she was going the right way on 246, she was set. "Where'ya from?" they asked. I'm from "Texas," yeee haww [sound of guns being fired into the air.] "What part?" "Houston." "Oh really? We're from Austin." "Wow! cool" "Okay, see ya later." "Bye!" Fuck. I shoulda asked if they knew my peeps in Austin!!! Rargh. So here's a hello to janette at UnCommon Objects, Fred and his roommate Bill, Ma and Jon, Dude and Vero, and probably a million others I can't think of in the short list. (Nathan and Lauuryn, Josephine, Katy B-H, ....) permalinkCool feelings 4:17pm JST Friday 21 December 2007 (day 13785) Nice. After a few year lapse in practice, I can tell my programming skills are coming back... not the skillz so much as the knowledge of languages.. I didn't know as much Javascript nor PHP (especially not the PHP) as I do now. I can solve problems with Javascript now that I remember being unable to handle some years ago. AND, I'm beginning to learn jScript, which is going to open up a new set of possibilities.. permalinkNovel 8:39am JST Friday 21 December 2007 (day 13785) oh shucks. I went to bed last night thinking that today was the 20th, and that I could easily finish my novel at a rate of 2000 words per day and finish before 30th ended. But that's not why I'm writing. A plot is seeming to form, but I don't quite like the smell of it. There are some aspects that don't make sense given the "rules" that I've set up.. or I should say character stories don't quite match up to make the plot that is coming to mind. Not sure which I like more, the characters or the plot. I think the characters, but I'm open to changing either if it will solve it nicely. It makes the whole book smell like a conspiracy theory, but the conspirators are these wise old charcters that live for 200+ years so they would know all the secrets... but I've casted them as generally good and oohhh.. hang on. I forgot about one unexplored aspect of their character. They *do* eat people on occassion (these are dragons I'm talking about) but the are still respected. I haven't figured out why they eat people exactly. I know *why*, but what is the next level deeper than that. Right now I'm one stop away from the *far* end of the line from Shibuya. I'll take an express train to get back. Funny story: yesterday I kept, wait.. I have to explain a bit first. right now I'm typing with the monitor light off because my battery -*! SUCKS !*-, perhaps because I have kept it plugged in a lot, and perhaps because it sucks, or a combination of both. Anyway, I kept turning on the montor light yesterday. I just changed trains. Okay, so I kept turning the monitor light on to monitor how my writing was going, and at the very end of the ride (around Nakameguro) my computer conked out dead. I lost a *bit* of text, but Emacs autosave saved my ass. I hadn't saved in a while. 9:03am JST Friday 21 December 2007 (day 13785) Okay I'm going to shut the computer for a bit and draw some ideas on paper. I was writing a bit, but it's not coming very quickly. permalinkZzzz 4:41am JST Saturday 22 December 2007 (day 13786) Got home, chowed, chatted (*), slept and snoozed with Ami and woke up at 1:45am: oops; wake up little Ami, wake up... (*) For some reason Ami asked me why I have a collection of plastic drink bottles. Isn't it obvious? I'm going to make a chair.. sheesh, some people. A few days ago, chatting with Colleen (I changed her SN), it went something like this. 1:13 PM me: you're smarter than a robot |
