Cleaning craze

Today is the last day of work for the year, so people are on a bit of a cleaning festival. I helped by cleaning up some pastries (among other helpful points, like writing this entry).

Wow. I just helped shred some documents. This shredder is the best I've used (though I know there are far better ones).. It can shred about 25 sheets at once (rough guess), and it has a CD/DVD/credit card slot.

Closing time

Just had a final little party type thing with drinks in paper cups and snacks served in the bags in which they were sold. Talked to the president for a bit; he said last year they had the end of year party with just one (1) person. Really? Wow. What have I joined here?

Coding jQuery

jQuery seems pretty awesome, though I haven't yet found a succinct guide to all its functions. I like to learn programming languages by looking up function descriptions and example usages.

I'm working on the new project (similar to chatbotchats, but not that one, the other one).. just trying to get the login form to work the way I want. And I'm not even talking about DB stuff yet. I think I might be going about this in a too detailed way before I have a big map from which to work. Sigh.

Gabriel

Met Gabriel on the bus from the airport over here. (!) He's from Ottowa, but doesn't have a particularly strong accent. Two Russian guys in the trial thought he might be Russian. Gabriel was pretty happy about that, actually.

Ended up staying up chatting with Gabriel last night as we had our last meal (before tomorrow mid day-ish) of convenience store food. I got some tofu and pudding and milk tea and little carmelized doodles that look like poo.

Gabriel and I were talking about the normal stuff we talk about when meeting another foreigner in Japan, and then I wanted to tell him about Barcelona in terms of it not being as safety [sic] (quoting thousands of Japanese) as Japan, and asked if he had heard of PB, and then got delightfully sidetracked as he excitedly queried me on all aspects of the voyage (he hadn't heard of it).

At the gate in the airport. 52 minutes until departure. Found free electricity at a little bring-yer-own-computer bar. I got a new mileage card because the free tix are with a different airline this time. Ah well.

Hotel

They're putting us up in a hotel tonight, so I'm pretty excited about that. We also get to get paid 3000 yen for a stool sample. I'm pretty excited about that, too. I may post some photos.
