Entries this day: Dream SOML_email_to_Shawn Travis Dream 4:44am JST Tuesday 18 March 2008 (day 13873) The next day was the last day of SWUUSI and I had just arived as a visitor. I was in a good mood, so I was skipping on the boardwalk and each skip propeled me mightily into the air for a quite speedy mode of travel. My head would nearly brush the beams holding the roof above our heads. Then there was some overgrowth making it tricky to bouncye/fly forward, but there were some ears of corn available and i grabbed some as I ended up in my mom's closet / bedroom; I grabbed an ear of corn and bounced out of the closet and realized I had to peee so I was looking for the restroom and realized a shower would do, then realized it was real so I woke up. permalinkSOML email to Shawn I'm in Tokyo still (again). I was teaching English for the first four years of my absence from the US, but now am doing database programming for a small company. From late 2004(?) to early 2006 I spent traveling over a year of amazingness, including 7 months sailing around the world on ship chartered by Peaceboat (Japanese organization), 6 amazing weeks in Palestine based in Jerusalem, and travels around this California sized island by bicycle at the end of which I broke my shoulder, putting an end to my travels (hopefully a temporary end, but) I seem to have met a nice girl named Ami (Japanese (Spanish) pronunciation). I'm just now getting out of debt and looking for the next adventure.permalink Travis 10:18pm JST Tuesday 18 March 2008 (day 13873) First chillin' time with Travis in the five years we've lived in Japan. I must say we never really hung out while we lived in Houston; we knew each other through KTRU, and went to a couple of functions, but I never really knew much more than his name and he's smart and he knew Japanese. Now I'm getting a better sense of just *how* smart he is, and in what topics he specializes (math (way more than me), computers (more than me), other stuff to boot). I'm happy to say we can also talk about real topics starring emotions and real, personal stuff. That's a nice blessing. We started out at kaitensushi (his second (2nd) time ever; my countleth time) and then went to tea time cafe or somethin' under MarK City. We both don't drink, and we both don't smoke. He's got a couple of other don'ts: caffeine and driving. I'm happy not to drive, but I don't pay attention to caffeine intake per se. We ended with watching some dude play pachinko for several minutes. I can see how it would become mesmerizing, and how it would be quite a drain on cash. We're both ready to change the world, and coming up on our mutual calendar: karaoke! permalinkprev day next day |
