Entries this day: Dream_Diane_Perry Hamamatsucho New_billing_project last_night Dream Diane Perry 7:30am Tuesday 16 Sept 2008 Pushing a cart through the street after noticing how good it smelled when a woman pushed it by; she was advertising smells. So delicious that I had to help. We went through a gate that we needed to lock again later. After the short journey through the streets and up a hill, I said I would go back and lock the gate. The locks were all old old old and rusty, so I wasn't sure which ones were the correct ones to lock. I just locked all three of them and figured that was more secure than leaving them open, especially since one of them could be opened by hand. Diane Perry came to check and she approved at first, but then when I told her I locked all three, she said she needed to talk to me, and we were in a really nice house party and she asked me why I would have thought to lock all of them. I was close to shutting down my brain and just meekly taking the tongue lashing, but I sorted out why I had done it and was prepared to say something, but she wasn't done yet, so I said, "excuse me one minute," and I stepped away to wash my hands, but there was food being prepared in that sink, so I went to a different restroom and locked the door, and after washing my hands there, she knocked on the door and I invited her in. I was just about to talk to her when my alarm woke me up. permalinkHamamatsucho 9:54am JST Tuesday 16 September 2008 (day 14055) Got a slip of paper saying the Tokyu Toyoko Line was as much as an hour late. By my estimation, it was more like 5 minutes late; I'm surprised to have gotten such a late pass. Then again, I have no idea how long it takes 'em to punch these passes; they're apparently done by hand, as the holes never line up perfectly, nor even consistently. But that's not why I'm writing. Going to Hamamatsucho to meet Tariq for the first time in some time (month?) to talk about chatforest. I'm thinking we could have some trivia games; I just saw news of a jungle giraffe, so that would be a good animal to include, I think... especially if it lives in the rainforest, but shux, I guess jungle counts as forest in any case. How is jungle different than forest? Rainforest gets lots of rain annually, but wtf is a jungle? Hmmm. Here's the definition according to Dictionary: a style of dance music incorporating elements of ragga, hip-hop, and hard core and consisting almost exclusively of very fast electronic drum tracks and slower synthesized bass lines, originating in Britain in the early 1990s. Compare with drum and bass. Oh wait. an area of land overgrown with dense forest and tangled vegetation, typically in the tropics And for rainforest: a luxuriant, dense forest rich in biodiversity, found typically in tropical areas with consistently heavy rainfall. Seem pretty much the same to me, 'cept for the rain. 11:01am JST Good meetin'; we came up with some interesting ideas, including a couple of viable games, I think. Not sure how to find time to do them, but. Headed to work now. Plan for today is to fix a bunch of English and have all the translations keys ready for Sho to translate. permalinkNew billing project 6:30pm JST Tuesday 16 September 2008 (day 14055) Hmmm.. My part of takeout is done for now, so I'm starting on a different project: basically to write a billing system to replace excel files. I think I've got a pretty good rough outline for it. The key being a super master key table: the Contract table. It will include a start date and currency. Maybe an end date, but hopefully that will just be open ended. 7:45pm JST Showed my overview idea to Malek, and he agreed that it seems to cover everything we'll need. The original spec was for a throwaway project, but I'd like to think this one will last way-longer than that. I'm sorta tempted to do more work on it tonight, but i should have a meeting with Sho (scheduled for 5:30pm tomorrow) cause he's the one who's currently doing the billing, and has a sense of what the new system will need to handle. I'm actually on the train now (as of 7:45) and plan to sleep the rest of the way home and then prolly read some ATS, write some CoD, perhaps meditate (I haven't in a while), then sleep early. permalinklast night 10:15am JST Wednesday 17 September 2008 (day 14056) Didn't do any painting nor writing on Castle of Dreams, but I did watch some vids of the damage on Galveston. Water was at eye level in a guy's house (and that "island" is basically flat, so pretty much everyone's house musta been that soaked). The vid showed inside his dining room and living room with the furniture all rearranged into nice piles of debris by the water. Everything moved except the monster TV. I guess flat panel TVs don't float. Another video seemed to be helicopter footage from soon after the storm; all the houses seemed intact (except one that was dramatically burning) but they were surrounded by water. Also downloaded a 10 minute ¤Ö¤«¤Ã¤± video from rapidshare that I found on 4chan. That download was in 6 parts, during which I watched a vid on prisonplanet.com of Jesse Ventura vs reporters in Minnesota about Airplane Day. permalink |
