Lunch

1:07pm JST Thursday 18 September 2008 (day 14057)

Met Travis for lunch; we ate at Thanks Nature Cafe, which has basically become my favorite lunch in the area. I had a salad with garlic dressing; he had some sort of chicken salad. We both had ice cream from 7-11 afterward.

Stuff at work

6:49pm JST Thursday 18 September 2008 (day 14057)

On the test box, my login doesn't have permission to create new tables, so I logged onto the closer-to-live staging machine and created some tables in an old DB made for Malek's brother some months ago. Since Jalal is no longer in Japan, I figured he won't mind, nor even notice, so. No biggie.

Just about to start doing some SQL queries to throw some data around, but gotta go to lesson with Yurika right about now.

But I did do this much:

INSERT INTO invoice_items (invoice_id, item_name, item_price, item_type, product_id)
SELECT '1', item_name, item_price, item_type, product_id FROM contract_items
WHERE contract_id='1';

It's a start.

Yurika lesson

8:03pm JST Thursday 18 September 2008 (day 14057)

We basically finished early; she had very few errors in her homework, and few questions past that. I felt a little bit bad because I snagged the puzzle that I was unable to solve in 20 minutes last week after the lesson. I was trying to solve it during the lesson, but I think I applied as many brain cells to the lesson as usual.

at Pink Cow vegan night with Ulrike

10:33pm JST Thursday 18 September 2008 (day 14057)

Went to The Pink Cow with Ulrike tonight; cool thing: she met Travis in Shibuya cause I was in a lesson with Yurika until 8pm, which is when the dinner started. Around 8:20 I joined the table with Travis, Ulrike, Sue, YK, Tom and Waki. Hadn't previously met Sue; she's from Slovakia, which (, apparently,) is close to where I guessed she was from (I guessed Holland). She was like, "it's south of there." "Um, Poland? Romania? Switzerland? Afghanistan? Czechoslovakia?" "Yes; Slovakia."

"Wow. Now, why did I think Czechoslovakia?"

"The name was changed," etc.

Man, I've got to learn European geography. And African, and Middle East, and and and. I'm pretty good with Canadia and Australia, so that's good, at least.

Chatted with Waki a bit; I've still got a slight affection for her, just cause of her smile and genkiness, but I don't genuinely know her. She might see the movie "Into the Wild" with YK's movie group on Tuesday, or she might go into the wild with Travis (as might I) on the same day for Travis' hiking trip. Not sure if I've got plans with Ami; we'll see; we'll see.

So, right now, Ulrike and I are side by side on the Tokyu Toyoko Line, listening to one earbud each of her mp3 player. Best of MTV Unplugged. Right now Nirvana's "Plateau," of which I had never previously heard.
