Entries this day: Dream For_Today For_ami For_shiatsu Meditation_breakthrough Sudon't Time_wasted_with_Komatsu Walk_to_Shibuya,_meet_Olivia Yurika_lesson Dream 7:37am JST Thursday 13 November 2008 (day 14113) In a hospital, hearing a page overhead: "Dr Stable, we're having trouble getting the patient stabilized for surgery. Dr Stable, we're having trouble getting the patient stabilized for surgery." I found myself intrigued that the Dr's name was the same as the anti-condition of the patient, and that they announced the Dr's name, but not the patient's name. I wondered if it was code for something else. 9:37am JST I just remembered Finally got to see Ami after her mom's death. She was finally able to cry without concern for others nor her surroundings. I felt happy that I could support her in this way. permalinkFor Today 8:15am JST Thursday 13 November 2008 (day 14113) To Do ToDay [*] = done (some may get done but not get marked)
For ami (*) もし虫 Today the spider ou tside my house was eating a bee 蜂 for breakfast! 昨日亜美に電話した んだけど、大丈夫で すか? Hmm. I think I should have を between 電話 and した, but I think this way is acceptable for verbal conversation. I've never really known how to punctuate だけど. (Or is it だけどう?) permalinkFor shiatsu 路武ともします。 My name is Rob, and I'm interested in doing both (or all three) Shiatsu courses. First I think I'd just like to meet you guys and see what it's all about. I work in Dogenzaka; could I come by around 9 or 9:30am before work? Thanks so much! - Robpermalink Meditation breakthrough 8:33am JST Thursday 13 November 2008 (day 14113) Note: by breakthrough in meditation, I mean a slightly greater awareness of something subtle. I think I mentioned a few days ago that I noticed that when I began to "see" dream images in my brain, that corresponded with when I would "forget" that I was supposed to be in meditation. Today I had some dream visuals that started when I forgot I was in meditation, and persisted for a moment when I remembered I was in meditation. They were quite fleeting. Also, just as I began to play with this seeing visuals *and* remembering I was in meditation, my 20 minute timer went off. Hmmmm! I could have enjoyed a bit longer meditation. permalinkSudon't 11:54am JST Thursday 13 November 2008 (day 14113) Trying to connect to the correct directory for editing a file on staging system, but I can't ls the subdirectory to find it. So I tried sudo. rob:/home/sites$ sudo ls We trust you have received the usual lecture from the local System Administrator. It usually boils down to these three things: #1) Respect the privacy of others. #2) Think before you type. #3) With great power comes great responsibility. [sudo] password for rob: rob is not in the sudoers file. This incident will be reported. Hahahaha. "This incident will be reported." Good thing the admin is my coworker. Anyone who understands the above should have seen this comic, but just in case: permalinkTime wasted with Komatsu 4:04pm JST Thursday 13 November 2008 (day 14113) I finally got him to understand that there are no correction marks on the first few pages of his workbook, not because I didn't check them, but because there were no mistakes. He watched me as I checked it again and wrote OK next to each question for two UNITS (4 pages) until he caught on. Then he asked me about five times respectively if I had already checked the entire book after I told him five times I had checked the entire book. Now, though I'm 99.9% useless in here, I don't have to push the Pause button of the CD player while he answers the questions uttered by the CD. "What's your last name?" "Are you a student?" (UNIT 1); "Where would you like to work?" "How long will you work here?" (UNIT 2). He's "done" the homework for those sections, and he went over the answers with me as I checked them, so now he's able to answer all the questions without me having to press Pause between each one. That's the good news. The bad news: I don't have to press Pause because he presses it instead. 4:06pm JST Okay, we're starting again. Here's a realtime transcription. "Where is he working now?" "He is he is Yokohama." - - - - "Have you found a part time job yet?" [pause] [write] "Have you find" "found" "found. find found found." "I have found full time job." "a full time job." "I have found a full time job." "Good." - - - - "Who does your mother work for?" [pause] [write] "My mother work for" "works for" "My mother work" "works." "My mother works for dotdotdotdot" "Good." - - - - "What kind of work do you do?" [pause] [write] "I work programmer." 5:02pm JST I survived. Food now. permalinkWalk to Shibuya, meet Olivia 6:05pm JST Thursday 13 November 2008 (day 14113) Because I had two hours between lessons, I chose to walk from Yoyogi to Shibuya for my lesson with Yurika. Good thing, too; in Harajuku I was spotted by Oribbia! She caught up to me on the sidewalk near H&M where I was asked to wait for a moment while the next 8 or 10 customers were let in after waiting in line to enter the store. Orribia informed me H&M is like the Ikea of clothing. Hmmm. I guess that's why I've never heard of it. hahaha Chatted for 45 seconds with Olivia until the next intersection I explained why I was walking there, and turns out we had similar stories. Had some times, so decided to walk. Only difference is she's meeting a friend, and I'm meeting a student-friend. Said bye and we agreed we'll meet up somewhere for New Years or on Facebook. permalinkYurika lesson 6:32pm JST Thursday 13 November 2008 (day 14113) Stopped by McD's for a 100 yen vanilla shake, slurped it down and then went up to find Yurika in line at the cafe. I almost thought she wasn't herself because I haven't seen her hair this way, nor such bright and brightly speckled hose. She's finishing up her homework while I write. "Take your time." permalinkprev day next day |
