Entries this day: Nearly_late Shiatsu_lesson Today cow-go gen_lesson Nearly late 10:37am JST Tuesday 5 May 2009 (day 14286) Had to run to catch my train for my shiatsu lesson.. Ami was all zonked out until just as I was about to leave and then I'm like "what do you wanna do today?" and she goes, "talk" and I'm like "aight" after a pause, and then, "aight I also want to talk but I've also got some other stuff to do like keep up with email, Cow-Go, JMW, and I have a student at 9pm. Then when I go to give her a hug, she stood like a pole, which certainly doesn't seem huggy to me, so when she goes, "no kiss?" I'm like wtf but relaxed a smidge and was able to tell her, "when you don't respond to my hug, it feels like a Tokyo wave (*), and I certainly am not interested in pursuing more." The overall situation, plus Ami's mannerisms, remind me so much of Hitomi. Not in a なつかしい way, but in a omg not again way. permalinkShiatsu lesson 11:58am JST Tuesday 5 May 2009 (day 14286) Today was the last shiatsu lesson per se for this course. Next class is my exam; I'll have to give shiatsu to 木村さん in four different positions. I'm guessing sitting, on side, on back, and on front. permalinkToday 8:43pm JST Tuesday 5 May 2009 (day 14286) Have been looking for open source projects that will allow Cow-Go students to interact with their teachers, and perhaps to keep track of lessons... I'm thinking it'll have to be really simple or really custom made. I think I'll talk to Gen about it today. Have looked at Zimbra, dotProject, Dolphin, Joomla, and a few others. permalinkcow go 8:45pm JST Tuesday 5 May 2009 (day 14286) Headed to lesson with Gen now. He's my first student through Cow-Go (which should be referred to as Cow-語, but my emacs macro doesn't like being loaded in the .init file (*)) (*) (fset 'cow-go-kanji [?C ?o ?w ?- ?\156154]) (global-set-key "\C-c\C-g" 'cow-go-kanji) It says An error has occurred while loading `/Users/thunderrabbit/.emacs': Invalid read syntax: ?permalink gen lesson 10:16pm JST Tuesday 5 May 2009 (day 14286) ホーリーシーット! OMG this is realllly cool! Gen, my lovely first student through Cow-Go, translated (*) the book _Getting_Things_Done_, and its successor, and is now contracted to translate _Making_It_All_Work_. Wowowowwwwwwwwwww! (*) supervised the translation of So funny that he was like, "yeah, so here is the text, " and placed a new hardcover copy of Making It All Work on the table, where it stood proudly with its new straight and sturdy binding, "and have you help me with pronunciation, etc," ... and then near the end of our hour, when he deemed one of the paragraphs a bit boring, I was like, "actually I love this text and want to read it," he goes, "Oh really? Well, I'm actually somewhat of an expert at this system, so if you have any questions..." I was like, "An expert? Really? How do you mean?" "Yeah, I translated the first two books," etc and I was like, "dood!" and upon my request, he told me the longer story. It turns out the first book was translated crappily by a different company (which subsequently went out of business), and so after Gen's successful translation of the second book, plus the GTD system gaining popularity, plus the other company's bankruptcy freeing its rights to the translation, Gen was asked to translate the first book as well. So, wow! This, Soness pointed out via phone, is exactly what I've been wanting: an answer to the neverending question, "what do I do right now?" permalinkprev day next day |
