Entries this day: Jie Kiko Kyoto_shamanism Jie 11:47pm JST Friday 19 June 2009 (day 14331) Met Jie today on Livemocha.com. She knows Mandarin and is studying Japanese; I chatted with her on their chat thing and now we've exchanged a couple of emails, with her teaching me basic basic basics, and me correcting her English as she uses it to teach me. permalinkKiko 11:08pm JST Friday 19 June 2009 (day 14331) Skyped with Ani tonight; she's doing well with projects there, including some new recordings and possibly a new art sellin' website for which I told her I'd be happy to produce some art! She's not sure that she'll come to Tokyo for JMW, but has been looking into ways to make that happen. I showed her some of my artwork online, and she got her Facebook URL updated to http://www.facebook.com/anikiko at my suggestion, and looked at http://bandcamp.com/, which I suggested after she asked about ways to sell music online. We scoped and tagged pics from her Japan trip after she uploaded them; nice fun! permalinkKyoto shamanism 11:49pm JST Friday 19 June 2009 (day 14331) Kevin signed up for Dreamhost today, giving me the referral. My job now is to install Wordpress for him on his new server. He didn't actually get a domain yet, so I've sent a request to dreamhost support to see if there's any easy way to move a dreamhost installation from ______.dreamhosters.com to ______.com I imagine there's not. Here's essentially what I wrote: HI Dreamhosties! My friend Kevin signed up for DH, and used kyotoshamanism.dreamhosters.com as his temporary site. My task now is to install wordpress there, and my task later will be to move the wordpress installation to his new domain. According to http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress it's a pretty easy task, so long as the database info stays the same. But, it looks like Kevin's mySQL info will _change_ when he chooses a domain. The current suggestion for his mysql server is something like mysql.kyotoshmanism.dreamhosters.com http://wiki.dreamhost.com/Move_WordPress_to_DreamHost gives step by step on how to move the installation; is that basically what we'll have to do when switching from _____.dreamhosters.com to ______.com ?? Thanks! - Robpermalink prev day next day |
