Day two

6:33am JST Sunday 26 July 2009 (day 14368)

On the train headed to the second day of my first shamanism course. Plenty of seats on the train (there were none available yesterday), so I'm going to snoooze so I can be awake for the course.

7:24pm JST Sunday 26 July 2009 (day 14368)

Had a good time with Day 2: we were allowed to zoom around with our power animals in the middle world (earth, etc) (I slept), look for ailments in a partner (Mark and I both found each other to be relatively healthy), and other stuff.

Park with Jon

7:27pm JST Sunday 26 July 2009 (day 14368)

Jon and I played in a park near Tokyo Dome City after helping/watching Kevin and Yuki pack all their gear to get out of Suwaen, where we had our course. I found myself unable to do back hip circles on the low bar, nor get myself up onto the high bar (*), but I was able to swing by my arms a good deal, and hung upside down by one leg and one arm from the high bar, and jumped out of the actual swing.

(*) part of the problem was having nothing but rocks below the thing, and not having grips for my hands.

I used both swings to have a wide enough surface (my hips were too wide for these kiddie swings, but went a bit too wide and ripped a big hole in the arse of my shorts. dang.

Jon offered some of his shorts to me; they were too tight so I declined; I felt sure I'd rip them as well if I sat down.

We headed off to find another park, but it turned out to be closed. Closed my eyes near exit 4b outside Korakuen station while Jon finished a large circuit around Tokyo Dome (he had gone on a scouting mission and called me when he discovered the park was shut for the evening) and when he arrived back, we said "aight laters," and went our separate ways.

Sabina's Super Science Labs

7:55pm JST Sunday 26 July 2009 (day 14368)

Sweet! It appears that Sabina has modified the text of Sabina's Super Science Labs in The Castle of Dreams!! I'm really glad to see that. I knew she wrote a description of a photon detector (which I installed); I, er, the Castle Workers, need to get working on <navigation/> tags for the room!

bound for Chigasaki

8:00pm JST Sunday 26 July 2009 (day 14368)

Currently seated on Tokaido Line as we're stopped briefly in Kawasaki station, I'm headin' home to Chigasaki from Tokyo Station, this line's central terminal.

I think I errored a bit by getting on the local train; I coulda taken the "ACTY" express and arrive 5 minutes sooner than I will on this train. I could switch, but I'd almost certainly lose my opportunity to sit, and I wouldn't have as much time to write / sleep.

bound for beach

1:09am JST Monday 27 July 2009 (day 14369)

Inspired by Jonathan, I decided to go out and sleep on the beach tonight, so I packed up some pudding and energy drink for the morning, and headed out by bicycle. It's nearly totally dark on the beach, though some ambient light from somewhere allows me to see enough to distinguish solid things from air.

I parked and locked my bike to a vertical post in some sort of wooden skeleton with its canvas skin crumpled up on the ground in its belly. With drumbeats in my headphones from the 15 minute shamanistic track given to us by Kevin, I sat at meditatively facing the wet wind, leaning into its gusts which kept me moist and awake.

I realized it was too much wind to sleep all night, so I headed back for reinforcements: my sleeping bag would be perfect, but it's in the shed and I'm not about to risk hurting Soness's surfboards getting them out of the way so I can get out my suitcases to find my sleepin' bag in the dark.

After chatting with Sabina, I headed back to the beach with two towels. I put one down on the beach and lay down on it. I put the other around my head to protect from wet wind whisking the heat and sleep away from me. Was there for about 20 minutes before heading back to warm dry calm and collected blankets in the living room of Chez Soness.

I'll get my sleeping bag out now so I can use it tonight.
