Entries this day: Errands Late_train Lesson_Yurika Pink_Cow chez_Soness Errands 12:43pm JST Thursday 30 July 2009 (day 14372) Dang I barely have time to do this last errand, but I'ma try... want to get a new toilet seat to replace the broken one here. Was going to order a whole new unit, but for just 1000 yen more, we can waste less plastic, and get a much nicer unit... Perhaps I should confer with Soness first. She'll be home today! But I *did* get a copy of the house key made for me, and a 1.0 liter glass container to keep ants out of the sugar. Yummy sugar, I know, but no ants allowed. permalinkLate train 2:56pm JST Thursday 30 July 2009 (day 14372) I was late leaving the house to meet Andrew for lunch, and then the train was late leaving the station, and later at the next station, etc etc for like 15 minutes of what shoulda been a 5 minute trip, during which I got to talk with Soness about her adventures in Bali and tell her the house is not quite as clean as I wanted to make it. Her train is in three minutes; I hope she makes it on time. So anyway, my train became so late that added to my already lateness, I called Andrew and we decided to cancel until tomorrow. permalinkLesson Yurika 8:09pm JST Thursday 30 July 2009 (day 14372) Good lesson with my good student Yurika; I love that she does homework before each lesson and brings it in for checking purposes. Good times for me. permalinkPink Cow 10:05pm JST Thursday 30 July 2009 (day 14372) Went to The Pink Cow after lesson with Yurika, where I said HI to Traci (owner), and Geoff and Ryan (Missing Scene, who were performing tonight) and then sat down on the front couchbenches and chatted with Ayako (?) who's a drug sales rep trainer. She was a drug sales rep, but preferred not to travel so much. Geoff and Ryan's set was cool; I most enjoyed the first song which is the "Bang Bang" song that begins the movie Kill Bill. Then there were two other guys on, one of whom did some really awesome guitar. Ayako (?) is one of Geoff's students; her English was fine for communication and she helped translate a bit with Rie and I talking. Rie hadn't really been to The Pink Cow before, but came to see if she could talk to some international types. After talking to me just a few minutes, she went to get a drink and didn't come back hahah but she went and talked with the drummer who was backup drumming for Missing Scene and then on stage drumming with the second guitarist. Though I never got their names, the drummer seemed pretty Jamaican (dark skin, dreds, Jamaican flag shirt with "Jamaica" on it), and I'd guess the guitarist had Spanish background. Later, Jason Ball, founder of Good People Japan, (twitter: @goodPeopleJapan, linkedIn: Good People Japan), told me the latest that's up in his life. So it was good to get to know him a bit more than just swapping business cards and "I'll call you sometime." permalinkchez Soness 12:54am JST Friday 31 July 2009 (day 14373) Soness is home! We stayed up late talking about her trip and my non-trip and Nibbles and everything. Great great great. permalink |
