Nice time this morning at the beach. Didn't run too much cause I hadn't eaten beforehand, but still had a nice time.

Bike parking grrrr

I'm on the train now, and I made it on time despite having to go "all the way up" to 3rd floor of the bicycle parking area. I had wanted to park down on the ground floor; I spotted some spots in the back behind the parking garage thing, so I headed that direction (instead of up the ramp) though the guy at the front was all, "3rd floor, 3rd floor please," in his robotic repetitive voice to help guide sleepy bike parkers to ample parking spaces.

I had veered off his prescribed track, so he was like, "hey, sir!" clapping twice to get my attention. I turned around, immediately grouchy, "there is space!" and he repeated, "3rd floor please," and I go, "why? there is space outside," and he goes, "outside is ..." and I just picked up the bike to hurry up past people slowly rolling their bikes up the ramp, put it in a second level rack up on third floor, and just left it (the rack) down saying, "you put it up" to no one in particular.

Where did all this pissy anger come from? I don't like it, but sometimes it just ... fuck I don't know.

And why all the cussing?

Sigh.

Work code review

Best part about work today was the code review at the end. We spent two hours poring over my most recent program, tweaking parts here and there to make it a masterpiece (?) of PHP awesomeness. Remind me to never use "PHP" and "awesomeness" in the same sentence again.

I learned a couple tricks (one of which I shoulda realized and done already):

if(in_array($id,array_keys($array))) { }

if($array[$id]) { }

Gah, when I write it like this it's obvious, but when I created the array key-by-key before, I still had its keys in my brain as separate entities or something.

The others were not so obvious, and had to do moreso with the classes I was using than just pure PHP.

Next code review will be tomorrow at 10:30! Wooohoo!

emiko lesson

Lesson with Emiko ran from 7:30 to 8:35. We looked through the latest Metropolis magazine and scoped some of the shorter, crazier articles and reviews, including a dog bark translator. Give me a freakin bruck here, people. If you pay attention to your dog, you'll know what s/he is saying. For $200, I can tell you what your dog is saying without even hearing it. What a waste.

skype Soness

After my lesson with Emiko, I got an email from Soness saying that she was available via Skype! I walked to Apple Store to slurp their wireless (and charge my phone) while talking to Soness, but she was talking to her mom for most of that time. I got kicked out of the store at 9:12 or so, and talked to Soness soon thereafter. She's been in the avatar course for like 4 or 5 days now, and has met some interesting/great people! She said there's a lot more work to be done for her. I'm optimistic that it'll be great.

train home

I'm on the train home (have been since 9:38) and am trying to catch up a few journal entries including that today I read that the CIA tried to install a US-sympathetic leader of Japan in 1956, but were foiled by whatever foiled the plan.

I sure wish that people would stop trying to control other people and just be happy.
