Past couple days

I had Chez Soness essentially to myself yesterday; Soness left at 6:30am or so, and Brook and Helen left before I got my lazy bootay out of bed. I slowly cleaned the bbq pit and dishes from the BBQ and got some paper towels plus granola at the store.

Skyped with Kevin, who has put website production on hold as he may be moving his courses out of Japan.

Work

Though this is "Silver Week," I asked Alfonzo if I could come in to work an extra day or two; I didn't want to lose momentum on the classes we're making!

I said NO to Monday, and he said NO to Tuesday, but we're coming in to work today, an hour later than normal, but 23 hours ahead of when we "have" to.

Work was aight in that my progress got faster; it got to the point that I hoped it would be when walking in the door this morning, but for some reason the first class I tried to write just wasn't doing the right thing. Not sure why, but even worse (?) is that it seems to be doing the right thing now, and I'm not sure why. Spooky.

Is it doing the right thing for realz or have I missed something in my testing? The second class I tested more effectively, comparing its output to the output of known working code. Turns out the known working code isn't as cool as my new class, so that's good news. Yes.

Lesson was good, actually more interesting than most of the ones we've had before; she had just gone on a trip to northeast coast of Japan and brought back a book of pics from the area (she left her camera in a station at the beginning of her trip, and didn't recover it until the end). The pics were beautiful and I was like, "dood!" I need to travel more around Japan.

She also told me she wanted to kick her brother out of her apartment; she owns it but he's renting it from her. His rent covers the bank payments; I told her she should buy another apartment and let him keep paying for her current one. She was like, "hmmmm" and I told her about some guy I know in Austin who did similar.

Then she said something about how she wasn't sure if she'd be able to get married because in Japan they say a woman who buys a house first can't get married (or something). I was like, "hogwash" and told her she can have a fundraiser and invite rich guys to $200 / plate dinners and find someone she likes. Done!
