Jen and Taka

Met Jen and Taka last night, Jen first, at a station very close to Kevin's house, and then we took a train and walked to meet Taka and two of their work mates, Andy and Simon. Simon is also a programmer, and we decided he's an English teacher who can program, and I'm a programmer who can teach English. He recommended an iPhone app called Japanese for 2300 yen, which I may get. In addition to teaching kanji, it allows me to draw kanji on the screen to search for them in its DB.

Taka got 100% in a test of the 20 hardest kanji on my current iPhone app (iKanji), though he was ギリギリ about two of them. ("very ギリギリ," he says.)

On the way home, I showed them the spiral over Norway, and we looked up some vids upon returning home. The vids that show it being a rocket are getting more convincing, but I'm sure it was something else.

In non-internet-related conversation, great to hear of the work they're doing with アイヌ and Greenheart; Jen is PR coordinator. Not yet a paid position, but the organization has funding for their cool zero emmissions ship that requires only 2 meters of water to dock, so it can help connect ports that can't afford big docks and don't want big pollution. Jen told me about her namesake Jennifer Teeter, who wrote a funny song My Tapeworm. So cute!

Jen showed me an app called Project 365, with which I may upload a photo each day in 2010. We shall see!

Kevin party

Great time at Kevin's party last night, with lots of eating, drinking, dancing. Kailash was basically break dancing on the carpet, doing little sideways rolls and stuff, which was pretty impressive given that he's only 2.5 years old. He got two new girlfriends (しょ and her friend Mona, both 11 years old).

Jeff and Kevin told a lot of dirty jokes, and I told the vaseline car joke, plus another I've forgotten at the moment. The celebrations included Kate's birthday party as well. After flashing on and off the hall lights, she became a ghost in the hallway through the frosted glass windows. Later I got to be her "love slave." She had me massage her shoulders and feet, and then loaned me out for massages to Toshiko and Yukiko. Kate left with しょ (her daughter; I think しょ is her nickname) around 11pm, so I told her she could get an extension on possessing me tomorrow (which was today).

Partytime did *not* go all night, but lasted til about midnight when everyone was either gone or tired. One the floor was a bit more cleared out, I danced with Yukiko on piggyback for about 10 minutes, at first calling her light as an angel, and then "wow; that was a good workout!"

We slept side by side like platonic sardines, but smooched a bit in the morning. All clothes stayed on and no skin contact occurred below the neck.
