Entries this day: weekend weekend 8:08am JST Tuesday 9 February 2010 (day 14566) This past weekend I made two mazes for my new maze book. Um, basically, to get past the writer's block issue, I'm going to make a book of mazes, which doesn't take a lot of writing 19:14 me: hey I realized my next project (sortof a long term one) I've always wanted to write a book Jimmy: cool. me: and I know I can write a book, but have been daunted by marketing, the market, etc I've decided to write a maze book Jimmy: i know someone in publishing. 19:15 thats a-maze-ing me: so, I'ma draw a bunch of mazes, write little descriptions (or not), and then publish via cafe press or blurb or lulu or somepin Jimmy: oh fun thats more interesting 19:16 me: should be fun! I downloaded an app on my Mac designed to create a PDF that blurb will accept and print as needed 19:17 I retain all the rights, according to their ¤Ê¤ó¤È¤« Jimmy: in between each one you should write an anecdote... in fact maybe make the mazes refer to your anecdote. me: mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmaybe 19:18 Jimmy: or not me: I fear this getting stalled out, so if I just draw and not have to draw in a certain way, I think I can more likely finish it
After that chat with Jimmy on Saturday, I drew two (2) different mazes. One that was kinda challenging to draw, and one that was supa easy, as a reward / make the book more interesting. Plus, if they're all difficult mazes, I won't finish it as quicky / ever. And, I'ma make them all permalinked, using the page numbers of the book to be the permalink code. But for now, until they are ordered, they all have the permalink mb: maze book. I want to acknowledge and thank Greg Bright, who wrote The Great Maze Book, which I loved as a kid. And *he* wrote his book back before these days of digital publishing! Back before The Internets!! OMG. According to The Internets, a labyrinth has no branches, so my "Simple Labyrinth" isn't a labyrinth! ho ho ho!! That's funny. I wonder how I'll handle this in the book, cause it's already been named. (i.e. I wrote "Simple Labyrinth" on the back of the maze.) Maybe I'll write a little anecdote about doing research before writing a book, or just blunder onward and upward. permalink |
