Blast the Right

10:22am JST Saturday 13 March 2010 (day 14598)

There's a site called The Rational Radical which features a podcast called "Blast The Right" I have never listened to the podcast, but I did sign up for its emails in June 2007.

In answering the question below, I looked back through my email archive to find fewer than half of the 70+ I received were marked as "read"

Hello Jack

I had stopped reading Blast the Right because it seemed to be so us-vs-them. "Look at what *they*
did, those stinky right wingers!"

My preference is to cultivate inner peace, understand every one of us is doing our best with the
tools and knowledge we have. ( everyone! including Hitler, Cheney, GW Bush, Obama, Oprah, Gandhi,
you, me, and even the kids who taunted us in school. )

I meditate each morning; I try hard to remain aware of myself and my breathing throughout the days.

I honor the work you're doing to put together Blast the Right. I know it's a lot of work, and that
you're doing it on a volunteer basis (right??). You're helping to wake up a lot of people, which
will certainly benefit the world. Thank you for that.

Blessings, and thank you for asking
    - Rob!

    Hello,

I noticed you unsubscribed from Blast The Right.

Since I'm always trying to improve the podcast, could you tell me what led you to cancel your subscription?

    Thanks!

    Regards.

Hop the Rocks

9:56am JST Saturday 13 March 2010 (day 14598)

(written 12:01pm JST Saturday 13 March 2010 (day 14598))

After dropping Soness off at the train station to catch a train before 8am (she got sidetracked talking on Skype and made the 8:15am train), I went rock hopping this morning, for the first time in months, cause the weather is finally warm enough to warrant such barefoot behavior.

The wind was blowing toward the beach like the wind off the ocean, and blowing sand in my eyes like grains of windblown sand that gets in the eyes. I enjoyed watching the water kersplash against the top of the T like ocean waves against rocks, and I even got wet like taking a salty shower.

I'm looking forward to rock hopping in the mornings again, like a rock hopper hopping on rocks again in the morning.

Sagami Line bound for Hashimoto did an emergency stop before Samukawa; nevermind we're moving again.

Tachikawa for RC

7:35pm JST Saturday 13 March 2010 (day 14598)

Before RC, I met early with Tatiana who was feeling a bit upset about some stuff. We chilled in the park near the station and she said she didn't know if she'd be willing to stay through the whole class today.

Hinako led the group today. The most interesting thing she taught actually counts as the most interesting thing I've heard in a long time.

Given that true leadership requires thinking about the people one is leading, and given that leaders tend to be emotionally isolated given that they need to be leading all the time, followers should support their leaders so they can continue to think well of their followers.

We did a session of appreciating Emma, who has been leading our group for about a year. She was able to yell and cry and did so more than I've ever heard her do before. Awesome.

We played a new game based on follow the leader, but as a flock. When the leader turns, everyone turns, and whoever is in front is the new leader. Awesome.

Tatiana stayed for the whole group despite her previous concerns that she'd not be able to. Awesome.

a State of My Life Address

10:09pm JST Saturday 13 March 2010 (day 14598)

Now that I have only a couple minutes before getting off the train, I figure I can write an SOML address.

State of My Life Address

  1. Soness and I live in Chez Soness in Chigasaki

  2. I have work for the rest of this month, but may not have work in April or May or June. If that's the case, I plan to take another TJ Bike adventure, but more fully connected to the interwebs during the ride.

  3. I've got 700,000 yen in the bank, so I can be jobless for a bit, but I am considering prudence in not letting my finances dwindle to dust before I seek work again.

  4. No girlfriend

  5. Soness recently went on some kind of training seminar for NLPT and has invited me to join some of the future ones. Hmmm!

  6. I-group has been three or four men per night. Takeshi hasn't attended recently.

  7. I've been meditating each morning for 20 minutes, and in the past couple of days, I've been less sleepy during it.

  8. I recently renewed fly2.nu and isfuzzywilltravel.com. robnugen.com is my main website.

  9. No pets

  10. Was listening to AniKiko, the artist formerly known as Kiko when I went past Chigasaki on the train.

  11. I've been "working on" a bunch of mazes to make a maze book, but the project has sorta stalled. Dang.

  12. If I lost my computer, I'd lose today's journal entries, but not much else.

  13. Haven't had any earthquakes recently that I've noticed in Japan, but I did go to the shore to see the tsunami after the 8.8 quake in Chile. No tsunami came, but I met a guy named Yasuo.

  14. It's just today gotten warm enough that I went to rock hop on the T. Fun, though a bit wet cause it was sooooo windy! I'm greatly considering making this a daily routine, taking Carla's advice of wake up early and get adrenaline flow to make it easy to wake up.

    iPhoned

    10:05pm JST Saturday 13 March 2010 (day 14598)

I iPhoned past Chigasaki, and didn't even notice until Oiso, which is two stations beyond, but even then, noticed too late and couldn't get off until Ninomiya, at which the Acty trains don't stop, so had I gone one station further, I'd have been able to catch the Acty going back, and be in Chigasaki by now I bet.

Anyway, this wouldn't be so bad except I told Emiko I would skype her at 10pm to discuss plans for going to the yoga retreat next weekend. Sorry, Emiko.
