Entries this day: Called_Paige Cool_walk Ferry_to_PhiPhi Koh_Phi_Phi Paige_and_Neir Called Paige 7:56am ICT Monday 12 July 2010 (day 14719) I called Paige just before she was getting on a boat to go diving and told her my three news items:
I'm really happy that I didn't say, "so I need to borrow money," but instead, "so I'm not sure what options I have," regarding my lost wallet. She said no problem on all three, with a pre question of "but you have enough to get *here*, right?" for the second, and explanation of "though they're not doctors, the pharmacists all know all about ears here," for the third. Sweet. Headed out to find some food and a beach. permalinkCool walk 11:28am ICT Monday 12 July 2010 (day 14719) Just went for a nice walk in an interesting area by the sea. It was like a concrete boardwalk over some land that slowly filled with water as the tide came in; I took a video of its progress, including me (*) standing on the land that was slowly claimed by the water. (*) my head wasn't visible; haha Walked back to the hotel and the distance seemed shorter on the way back. Hmmm. permalinkFerry to PhiPhi 2:43pm ICT Monday 12 July 2010 (day 14719) Though it's moving slower than I had hoped, I guess two hours is two hours. In the van from my hotel to the port, I met two young women celebrating (?) having finished their first year of school in London. Haven't got their names, yet, but they've got Johnny and U-Cow. They're 2 of about 10 or 20 people from their school, all traveling on various iteneraries around SE Asia. These two plan to stay in Thailand, hopping from island to island and possibly coming up north. After introducing them to Johnny and U-Cow, I was told about Jim Duggan, the name of a rubber rat who has met the Queen of England, and traveled around much of the world. He apparently has a page on Facebook. I dunno if I'll make U-Cow or Johnny a FB page, but I may, and then try to friend the rat. The ship features some 100 seats, many of which are taken by a group who seems to be from Ireland. They were late getting to the ship, but the ship was later than that even, as the crew was loading up some vegetables and shtuff. The deck is fiberglass, painted gray, and gets pretty hot in the direct sun, but cools quickly. permalinkKoh Phi Phi 4:32pm ICT Monday 12 July 2010 (day 14719) Met Neir and Paige at Sea Frog and we're now at Supa special thanks to Neir, who has solved my cash problems, giving me 3200 baht. The hotel is 1400 baht for the week, and food should hopefully be less than that. I just paid him back $100 via PayPal. permalinkPaige and Neir 11:25pm ICT Monday 12 July 2010 (day 14719) Went back to Paige's dive shop after eating at Papaya, the first restaurant she recommended (same prices, but bigger portions) where I took pictures of the cat (and Johnny) in the refrigerator. Chatted with her about diving mostly, and then some about B and her plans for after PhiPhi. permalink |
