Entries this day: Colleen_toodleoo Djangit,_Python Lin Colleen toodleoo 8:11am JST Saturday 30 October 2010 (day 14829) Just said bye to Colleenie Beanie G Bean Dawg; I'm sooo going to miss her; we've had so much fun!!! And I've had so much fun watching her have so much fun in Japan, from seeing new places, to eating new food to playing new instruments to wearing traditional clothes... it's been a super experiencial experience for her. And I've determined she is no longer 13 years old like she used to be 13 years ago. Imagine that!! Woke her up to give big hugs and help me put on the plastic pants and plastic jacket I got for Mt Fuji climb with Lin. More big hugs and "I love you" and "see you super soon!" and Joel was like, "do you guys want to make out?" hahahah I was like, "nope!" and headed out. I gotta go to work; sigh. I was hoping to take her to the airport and have that extra time to chat and finalize all our long term memories for this awesome visit. permalinkDjangit, Python 4:51pm JST Saturday 30 October 2010 (day 14829) I've been trying to get this djang django installation to work, but haven't yet been quite successful. So far I have determined that I need to kill all processes with the name "python" (and I've been killing "php5.cgi" for good measure), and I've got Paste set up to report errors as suggested in the server 500 django python dreamhost passenger workaround entry on DH's wiki. I'm getting the admin screen as described in Part 2 of Writing your first Django app tutorial, but when I edit settings.py in Part 1 of Writing your first Django app tutorial to include my app, I get a 500 error. If I restore settings.py, the 500 error is resolved. If I change the passenger_wsgi.py file according to the workaround mentioned above, I get error while loading passenger_wsgi.py (or something to that effect), whether or not I've changed settings.py. So it's like the workaround is making it fail more gracefully, but failing each time instead of just when I've changed settings.py I tried dissecting passenger_wsgi.py, but that didn't affect the error message regarding the file. I replaced the new passenger_wsgi.py with the old one and the admin screen worked again. permalinkLin 5:11pm JST Saturday 30 October 2010 (day 14829) All the programming biznass was done during work with Ian. Now I'm in KQ Kawasaki waiting for Lin to arrive; she's a bit later than I understood earlier, but maybe I misunderstood. I know for sure we weren't in close communication during the day, so I might have guessed she would be busy. When I called her, she sounded a bit panicked that she wasn't ready yet; I told her to take her time. permalinkprev day next day |
