I can look for an IT job and sign a contract as late as 22 Dec (when my visa expires) but otherwise I need to apply or a tourist visa by that date. I knew that already. I kinda knew this next part, but now I have deets: If I get a job as a programmer, I can apply to work as an English teacher (up to 28 hours per week). If I get a job as an English teacher (changing to Humanities visa), I cannot work as a programmer. I didn't know this: to work as a masseur, I need to change my visa to Skilled Labor, and for that probably need a certificate from somewhere. Or I just need to find a company that doesn't really check these things. permalinkLaksa 1:08pm JST Thursday 11 November 2010 (day 14841) In the immigration office, I met Daniel, and Bun, a couple from Thailand. Bun (pronounced like daniel "boon" more than like a hotdog "bun") does Thai massage! She gave me the name of a shop in Yokohama: Laksa, but I had no luck searching for it. I have their phone numbers; I might be able to get an address from them.. Hmmmm. permalinkShibuya 1:11pm JST Thursday 11 November 2010 (day 14841) right now I'm going to Shibuya Apple Store to charge my iPhone battery and send a couple emails / job search a bit. permalinkloustar 4:50am JST Friday 12 November 2010 (day 14842) Sweet. Lin came to the show at La Mama tonight (last night; I'm still awake) and there was a supa-cool hip-hop performer there named Loustar AKA, and though I've not yet figured out why she has AKA on her name, I figured out how to dance to her bumpin' beats. As soon as she set up and started playing like the first couple sounds, I was like [shooop] straight in front of the stage. I danced Rob's Crazy Dance for all of her songs, and she even reached out over the keyboard to take my hands at one point, *and* when she freestyled at the end, I was the star of Loustar's first verse! I told Lin, "I'm going to go get her CD, and autograph, and a kiss." Lin goes, "okay go go" without any qualms, which is exactly the feedback I need to ensure I will not smooch any other women. At the very end, after Lin left, Jaime was like, "Lin is *so* *cool*. Lin wins!!" Which means I win. Whooo!! 4:58am JST While we were all chilling at the Pink Cow listening to Sorcha play keyboards, I gave Loustar two foot massages while Jaime slept with her head on my lap. After her massages, Loustar slept with her head on my other lap. She has offered to come to Chigasaki today to receive a massage from me. permalinkprev day next day |
