Entries this day: Massage_day job_fair johnny lin Massage day 11:58am JST Friday 28 January 2011 (day 14919) Woke up at 5:26am to get packed and take the 6:26am train to meet Kellie (not Kittie Kellie) to take me to the elementary school on Atsugi Air Force Base to give massages on the teachers' in-service day! 4 clients (3 of whom are repeat customers) requested an hour each. Sweet! I just ate lunch, and have an hour before my next, final appointment. 2:26pm JST Friday 28 January 2011 (day 14919) Great and successful day!! permalinkjob fair 6:21pm JST Friday 28 January 2011 (day 14919) Today was a "job fair" featuring about 15 booths with employees on one side of the table and 4 to 30 candidates on the other side of the table. I rocked up to the less crowded booths and gave my massage card "HI; I bring massages to the workplace, so your hard working employees can get a healthy relaxation break during the day." Or in Japanese, "um, yeah I'm Rob I massage." I gave my card to about 10 different people I think, a few of whom were like, "cool" or, in one woman's case, "nice." Sam was there; he's an IT guy I e-met through Soness, and we've been helping each other with latest job search tips. I'm on the train now to see Lin in Shibuya, and I just got an email (from her, I hope!) permalinkjohnny 6:27pm JST Friday 28 January 2011 (day 14919) Lin took several pictures with Johnny today! She's become Mommy for Johnny, taking him everywhere she goes; she writes to me as Johnny, calling me Daddy... I really like it. Plus, stuffed animals are really easy to raise! permalinklin 12:11am JST Saturday 29 January 2011 (day 14920) Before meeting Lin near ドンキーホテー, I went to the massage studio on B1F and told them "no, I don't have an appointment, but I give massages." and the guy talked to another guy and came back saying "we'll call you," which I'm guessing means "we'll never call you," but at least he went back and talked to the guy. Oh, before that, I saw a couple down near Hanzomon Line with a map, and asked if they needed help. They were trying to determine the identity of the light gray train line that went straight to Meguro. I told them what it was (Yamanote), showed them where it was, and how to buy tickets. Even got a picture of them next to Hachiko. Met Lin and she drove me to Yokohama, and we stopped at Denny's along the way. Talk talk talked while there; I told her stories about how my parents got together, how I got here, and how I used to treat Fred badly back in the day. Explained that I might be sex crazy because when I was young (around age 10), the girl across the street taught me how to kiss and the pleasures of oral sex. I just tonight put that link together. Not sure how much merit the story merits. I told her why I have resisted learning Japanese, and she told me she totally understood, given that she remembers going from a native Poruguese 9 year old to a Japanese fluent 11 year old. Somehow the topic got to Celcius vs Farenheit degrees, and it turned out her confusion was thinking that "celcius" and "farenheit" were units, like, "degree." I can see how that would be confusing, cause they're totally not units. Anyway, I got her sorted on that, I think, (using an imaginary poster featuring pictures of different dogs as an analogy). I'm looking forward to seeing her after work tomorrow. permalink |
