i got hugo running on shared hosting

18:16 Saturday 19 November 2016 JST

I spun up a Debian box on Amazon, installed git, lynx, go, and then compiled hugo.

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get install git-core
sudo apt-get install lynx
lynx https://golang.org/dl/
sudo tar -C /usr/local/ -xzf go1.7.3.linux-amd64.tar.gz
export GOPATH=$HOME/go
export PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/go/bin
go get -v github.com/spf13/hugo

I copied that to my shared host and it works, though it runs more slowly than on my local box.

Okay now messing with https://gist.github.com/thomasfr/9691385 to see if I can get git hooks set up.

|0:00 HI! I'm Rob! As you may have noticed, I like to walk around barefoot! I like to feel connected to the earth and my physical body.|0:20 It all started back in the halcyon days of university, when we had nothing better to do than watch paint dry.|0:40 I also enjoyed carrying around a frisbee! I was known on campus as that barefoot frisbee guy. This picture was taken around my third year in university. This year as a senior.|1:00 In Japan I've been barefoot for about five years and was even featured on TV earlier this year. It was fun to see one of the show directors try being barefoot outside!|
|[![050 no shirt no shoes](//b.robnugen.com/rob/presentations/pechakucha_2016/thumbs/050_no_shirt_no_shoes.png)](//b.robnugen.com/rob/presentations/pechakucha_2016/050_no_shirt_no_shoes.png)|[![060 sidewalk surprise](//b.robnugen.com/rob/presentations/pechakucha_2016/thumbs/060_sidewalk_surprise.jpg)](//b.robnugen.com/rob/presentations/pechakucha_2016/060_sidewalk_surprise.jpg)|[![070 rockhopping connection](//b.robnugen.com/rob/presentations/pechakucha_2016/thumbs/070_rockhopping_connection.jpg)](//b.robnugen.com/rob/presentations/pechakucha_2016/070_rockhopping_connection.jpg)|[![080 barefoot both weddings](//b.robnugen.com/rob/presentations/pechakucha_2016/thumbs/080_barefoot_both_weddings.png)](//b.robnugen.com/rob/presentations/pechakucha_2016/080_barefoot_both_weddings.png)|
|1:20 I haven't always been barefoot! When I first started, I noticed that I felt two things very keenly. First I felt a little embarrassed and some fear. I was violating some social mores!|1:40 I also felt my feet!! Walking on asphalt surfaces like this can be really painful. For beginner barefooters.|2:00 But the connection to earth and to my own joy were worth it. Khalil Gibran said the earth delights to feel your bare feet|2:20 Speaking of connections, here's a heart, soul, and sole connection! Both times my wife and I celebrated our marriage, I was barefoot! She even joined me the second time. Hi, mom!!|
|[![090 everything is fine.](//b.robnugen.com/rob/presentations/pechakucha_2016/thumbs/090_everything_is_fine.jpeg)](//b.robnugen.com/rob/presentations/pechakucha_2016/090_everything_is_fine.jpeg)|[![100 hiking montage](//b.robnugen.com/rob/presentations/pechakucha_2016/thumbs/100_hiking_montage.png)](//b.robnugen.com/rob/presentations/pechakucha_2016/100_hiking_montage.png)|[![110 stubbed toe 2015-04-19 11.58.35](//b.robnugen.com/rob/presentations/pechakucha_2016/thumbs/110_stubbed_toe_2015-04-19_11.58.35.jpg)](//b.robnugen.com/rob/presentations/pechakucha_2016/110_stubbed_toe_2015-04-19_11.58.35.jpg)|[![120 barefoot mikoshi](//b.robnugen.com/rob/presentations/pechakucha_2016/thumbs/120_barefoot_mikoshi.jpg)](//b.robnugen.com/rob/presentations/pechakucha_2016/120_barefoot_mikoshi.jpg)|
|2:40 Marriage, like barefooting, sometimes has surprises! One time I thought my wife was upset. But when I asked her, what-do-you-know; she said "I'm just fine!"|3:00 So we were hiking along in life, marriage, and hiking trails, and just as I hoped, everything was fine! Here are some pics from hiking in Japan. (there's blood in the next picture so watch out)|3:20 Oh no! And then surprise! It wasn't fine. Completely unexpectedly pain occurs. Maybe lose a job? Get a bad grade?|3:40 What happened? It looks like someone wasn't paying attention to where he was going (or maybe to what he was saying)! And then someone else got hurt.|
|[![130 jennie hides](//b.robnugen.com/rob/presentations/pechakucha_2016/thumbs/130_jennie_hides.jpg)](//b.robnugen.com/rob/presentations/pechakucha_2016/130_jennie_hides.jpg)|[![140 play ballon run](//b.robnugen.com/rob/presentations/pechakucha_2016/thumbs/140_play_ballon_run.jpg)](//b.robnugen.com/rob/presentations/pechakucha_2016/140_play_ballon_run.jpg)|[![150 art with feet 2015-12-24 14.02.58](//b.robnugen.com/rob/presentations/pechakucha_2016/thumbs/150_art_with_feet_2015-12-24_14.02.58.jpg)](//b.robnugen.com/rob/presentations/pechakucha_2016/150_art_with_feet_2015-12-24_14.02.58.jpg)|[![160 feet at train pov](//b.robnugen.com/rob/presentations/pechakucha_2016/thumbs/160_feet_at_train_pov.jpg)](//b.robnugen.com/rob/presentations/pechakucha_2016/160_feet_at_train_pov.jpg)|
|4:00 So how do we usually deal with this hurt? Hide in a corner? Perhaps behind a pile of paper at work? Perhaps by not saying anything at all?|4:20 What about just feel the feelings and play anyway? Run outside and feel the grass between your toes! Live life and feel the emotions in your heart|4:40 In fact, go out on a limb and share your heart! Make some art! Make it uniquely yours and allow your soul to shine!|5:00 Okay story time. I was at the station one day and the announcer was like, '足元ご注意下さい。' I thought he was talking about me! I looked down and everything seemed okay.|
|[![170 people at station](//b.robnugen.com/rob/presentations/pechakucha_2016/thumbs/170_people_at_station.jpg)](//b.robnugen.com/rob/presentations/pechakucha_2016/170_people_at_station.jpg)|[![180 broken bottle](//b.robnugen.com/rob/presentations/pechakucha_2016/thumbs/180_broken_bottle.jpg)](//b.robnugen.com/rob/presentations/pechakucha_2016/180_broken_bottle.jpg)|[![190 foot cut 2016-05-11 19.16.15-1](//b.robnugen.com/rob/presentations/pechakucha_2016/thumbs/190_foot_cut_2016-05-11_19.16.15-1.jpg)](//b.robnugen.com/rob/presentations/pechakucha_2016/190_foot_cut_2016-05-11_19.16.15-1.jpg)|[![200 honest gentlemen talking](//b.robnugen.com/rob/presentations/pechakucha_2016/thumbs/200_honest_gentlemen_talking.png)](//b.robnugen.com/rob/presentations/pechakucha_2016/200_honest_gentlemen_talking.png)|
|5:20 Then I looked up and thought! Ohhh maybe he was encouraging all of us to notice the world around us.|5:40 By being barefoot, I have to notice the world around me, sometimes I see things that really make me feel angry!I want to scream and yell but society doesn't like that.|6:00 I therefore wanted to have a safe place to express my emotions if necessary.|6:20 Wouldn't it be great if we could express our feelings honestly? That's my challenge for you: Notice, Feel, and Express yourself. If you'd like to scream, I'm here for you.|
