benefits of leaving an airport at 0001

My friend wanted to buy a ticket to leave on Saturday and accidentally bought a ticket that leaves at 00:01am (one minute after midnight) Saturday morning. (26 hours from now as I write this)

I challenged him to write 25 benefits of such a situation. Here are mine:

1. have a funny story
2. be awake with nothing to do but watch digital clock turn from 23:59:59 to 00:00:00
3. arrive at airport when it's relatively quiet
4. get a chance to see behind-the-scenes stuff they only do at night at airports
5. not have to wake up early for a flight
6. have already halfway solved the jetlag issue
7. get to really ponder the human construct of tracking time
8. have a chance to put a smile on face of staff working late
9. save time shopping for souvenirs
10. save money on buying souvenirs
11. have moving walkway all to yourself
12. get to wonder if other passengers made the same mistake
13. get to joke about how early the flight is
14. easy chance to sleep late on Saturday
15. no worries about a large choice of food vendors in airport
16. immediate night mode on plane so can sleep quickly
17. "I leave tonight" and "I leave tomorrow" are both true
18. passport stamps says you left the day before you actually leave
19. opportunity for taking nighttime photos at airport
20. can play in kids zone because no kids will be there
21. can say "good evening" to one seatmate immediately before "good morning" to next seatmate.
22. easily compare flight duration with length of day
23. get to board a plane wearing pajamas
24. get wonder when and wear the pilots slept
25. can say "I remember getting on the plane like it was yesterday"

Four lessons at SCC today. One was shorter than expected due to a (hopefully small) medical emergency. Third lesson on the third floor featured discussions of the other three lessons and hearing they students really enjoy my passion for the topics.

Lin said she had an "unbelievably hard day at work today" so I look forward to listening and hopefully helping her sort out her feelings on the whole thing. New job, new system, steep learning curve; I can relate!

lesson in akihabara

Today I showed students in Akihabara the website and snippets for Marble Track 3. They were like "waow" etc. I love the project and felt a bit guilty for taking up a significant amount of class time with it. We have had lessons for years though, so I don't think they will mind.

onsen with robert golden

Robert Golden and I enjoyed chatting at the onsen near Minami-tama station on JR Nambu line. Great to get to know each other better. I told him about how I ended up in Japan, including Tammy, Bonnie, Wende, janette, Lin. We talked about MKP Japan and the work we are doing here. I learned how he ended up in Hawaii.

I wished we could hang out longer at the onsen; I did not finish all my lunch and did not finish sitting in all the pools + both saunas. But chronos time calls and I am now headed to work at SCC.

Smartly, I brought dress clothes for work and am now clothed, dressed smartly for work.

Hugged Robert bye on Nambu line in Noborito; he is headed to Hiroo, and then leaving Japan tomorrow or Saturday.

今日友達と温泉に行きました。前、妻が車で温泉に運転しましたから、どこかどうかわからなかった。今日は同じ温泉に行くと思ったんだけど、別の温泉でした。あっ、びくりした。

I went to an Onsen with my friend. My wife drove us to an onsen before so I didn't know exactly where it was. I thought today's onsent was the same one I had been to when my wife drove, but was surprised it turned out to be a different one.

私の人生は忙しいすぎるかもしらない。たくさんプロジェクトありますけど全部できない。例えば、今日、からくり第三弾の生配信をしたかったんだけど、日本語の授業の準備しなければならない。日本語の書くの前、別のミータップのエヴェントもアンナウンスしないといけない。あっ、猫がお腹が空いたそうです。猫に養なっければならない。

あっ。やばい。本気の仕事にもいかなキュア！
