Entries this day: finished-first-version-of-robarty-mcartyarter heading-to-scc-then-bp finished first version of robarty mcartyarter I finished the first version of Robarty Mcartyarter last night pretty late. Based on a few values, it produces text designed to be used for an [Art page on my MediaWiki site](https://wiki.robnugen.com/wiki/Special:AllPages?from=&to=&namespace=100). I used PHP for Robarty Mcartyarter, trying to think about dependency injection along the way, including not relying on the REQUEST variables being "superglobals". I also used types in function declarations and the PHP 7.4 feature of typed variables in class instances. I have not done things such as document the code nor get the html, head, style, and body tags out of PHP code, but I have some ideas for how to make it more useful, including displaying a link that will recreate as a GET url the page created after POSTing the data. That will allow me to document the source for my wiki (though Robarty Mcartyarter does not have version-proof responses) and revisit or tweak the data relatively easily. Oh, to that end, I might make it refill the form fields with the request data. Next will be to autofill the date values with current date by default. permalinkheading to scc then bp Today will be my third lesson out of 12 at BP for their current course on presentation skills. It's been challenging, with 12 students and a wide range of English ability. Fortunately, they all know each other and are all doing their best. That helps a lot! But first, two hours of lessons at SCC. These lessons are technically more challenging, but then again easier because I just work with one student at a time, so it's easy to tailor the material for each student. 20:39Liliko wasn't available today at SCC, but I talked to one of the guys who has been working on a voice recognition system they'll be introducing "soon". We were supposed to have it finished in September or October. Now we will get to see an alpha version in January, apparently. BP lesson was great and went exactly as planned. I am super glad we had plenty of material; I was afraid I'd have to wing stuff for a long time, but everything worked out fine. We did 3 minutes of eye gazing, and that was enough. permalinkprev day next day |
